INEC's Final Voter Registration Push: Doors Close July 10
With the final Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) window closing on July 10, 2026, the Independent National Electoral Commission has launched a last-minute nationwide push to register first-time voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

INEC says it has registered approximately 9.4 million new voters since the CVR window reopened in late 2024. The Commission is targeting a total register of 100 million voters by the deadline — a figure that would make Nigeria's electorate the largest in Africa by a widening margin.
Where to Register
Registration is free at any INEC LGA office. You need proof of age, proof of residence, and a National Identification Number (NIN). There is no online registration — despite repeated civic calls for one — but INEC has deployed additional registration machines to high-demand states.
PVC Collection
Registered voters must collect their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) in person. INEC estimates that 7.8 million PVCs from previous registration cycles remain uncollected nationwide — a number the Commission calls "unacceptably high."
If you have registered but never collected your PVC, now is the time. Without it, you cannot vote in 2027.
Watch Nigeria Elections is publishing a daily PVC collection tracker by state until July 10.
