By accessing or using the WatchNigeria Elections platform ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Platform. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, agents, and others who access or use the Platform.
WatchNigeria Elections is a civic technology platform designed to support real-time election monitoring, result reporting, live broadcasting, and citizen engagement across Nigeria. The Platform provides tools for registered field agents, observers, coordinators, and citizens to participate in election transparency initiatives.
To access certain features, you must register for an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
You may use the Platform only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to use the Platform to upload, post, or transmit any content that is false, misleading, defamatory, or designed to manipulate election results. You must not attempt to interfere with the proper functioning of the Platform or circumvent security measures.
By submitting election results, images, videos, or other content to the Platform, you grant WatchNigeria a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, store, display, and distribute such content for the purpose of election monitoring and civic transparency. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of content you submit. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or applicable law.
Users registered as field agents or coordinators assume additional responsibilities. Agents must operate only within their assigned polling units, submit accurate and verifiable data, and comply with all directives from coordinators and platform administrators. Misuse of agent privileges, including submission of false results or unauthorized access to restricted areas, may result in immediate suspension and legal action.
Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review our Privacy Policy at /privacy-policy to understand our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information.
The Platform and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by WatchNigeria Elections and are protected by Nigerian and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Platform without our prior written consent.
The Platform may integrate with or link to third-party services, including payment processors, mapping tools, and communication services. These third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. WatchNigeria is not responsible for the practices of any third-party services.
The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. WatchNigeria does not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses. Election data submitted by field agents represents citizen observations and is not a substitute for official INEC results.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, WatchNigeria shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Platform, even if WatchNigeria has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we determine violates these Terms, applicable law, or is harmful to other users, third parties, or the integrity of the election monitoring process.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Nigerian courts.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Platform after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
